Injury Prevention
This is our chance to be proactive in our training and address weaknesses in our running program before they become full blown injuries.
Description
In this session, we'll take a brief look at quite a few of the major injuries and discuss what might bring them on and how to adjust our training to avoid them.
Basic Care of Injuries (R.I.C.E)
R REST
From any aggravating activity that could make the injury worse.
I ICE
The quicker the ice is applied after the injury, the more effective the treatment.
C COMPRESSION
Usually applied using a stretch elastic bandage (tensor type), wrapping toward the heart.
E ELEVATION
During and after application of ice, the injured body part should be elevated above the level of the heart.
